Cruise Comfort Hack: How To Create a Lounger On Your Balcony
I’d taken six Royal Caribbean, one Princess, and one Norwegian cruise with a balcony, since 2015 when I discovered this chair trick. Depending on the chair, you can make a lounger out of the two single chairs on your balcony! I posted this hack (with photos) on the RC Facebook page in January 2019 after sailing on Freedom of the Seas. The reponses from foks who had no clue you could do this were astounding! I decided it definitely warranted it’s own spot in the cruise and travel section of my blog!
My only regret is figuring this out on the last day and not when my husband was snoring! It was so bad one night, I dragged all extra linen and comforter from under the bed, and made a "nest" on the balcony so I could get a little sleep!
As someone who hates sitting around the pool area with the mobs and fighting and searching for chairs, I spend my spare time on the balcony. I love it when the sun finally shifts; albeit short, it’s a delightful bit of bliss.
To make this amazingly comfortable lounger, simply lay the backs flat and push them together “seat to seat" to touch. It’s quite comfortable and you can't even feel the crack! [in the chair?]. I laid out my beach towels and a bed pillow, and thought I was in heaven!
I’m interested to know if the balcony chairs on the other ships fold in this manner. If you know of others that do, please leave a note in the comments below naming the ship. I'd also love comments and feedback about other cool hacks you’ve discovered on a cruise!
